Hold Light Up the Eyes
Many forms of pain, discomfort, and bodily changes tied to women’s health are often ignored, misunderstood, or simply too hard to say out loud.
They do not disappear. They remain in the body, in emotion, and in the gaze of society.
This project uses interactive video and symbolic storytelling to invite participants into a world between reality and metaphor, where they can experience those long-unseen aspects of women’s health.
This is not just about watching. It is about seeing, understanding, and responding.

I hold up your body, and quietly carry the weight of new life. Yet so often, I am only noticed when pain begins, or when birth draws near. The rest of the time, I am barely seen at all.
I was once everyone’s first home, yet I am often left to bear cramps, bleeding, and pain in silence. People are quick to define me, to speak for me, to decide for me, but rarely ask whether I am hurting.
I often cry for help through tenderness, swelling, and lumps, yet the world seems more familiar with my shape than my danger. By the time fear is finally heard, the pain has often lasted far too long alone.
I am the chameleon.
I change my colours, not only to hide,
but also to survive in danger.
Everything you have just seen,
is connected to women’s health.
The pain that is overlooked, the organs that are misunderstood,
the bodily experiences forced into silence,
often have to learn, like me, to disguise themselves first,
before they can ever be seen by this world.
You have seen what was hidden on the surface, but the story does not end here.
